Non-Registered Plans
A non-registered plan (commonly referred to as investment accounts) enables investors to invest an unlimited amount of money anywhere in the world. While they are not tax shelters, where gains and losses are not declared for income tax purposes, non-registered plans offer investors these benefits:
- No contribution or withdrawal limits
- No account fees (other than applicable sales charges)
- Potentially higher returns relative to those of a bank account (potentially lower returns than those of a registered plan, where returns compound tax-free)
- Collateral value (it can be used as collateral)
To open an account with Renaissance Investments, a minimum investment of $500 or a monthly Pre-Authorized Chequing Plan (PAC Plan) of $50 is required. Subsequent investments can be as little as $100.
